How can I get my Phillips Dvd/Vcr to read discs?

I have a Phillips DVD/VCR combo (sorry, don't have model#) and the DVD player had been working fine. It's less than a year old and it will no longer read the discs that I put in. I tried a disc cleaner but it won't read that either!
