What do I do with these wires?

I'm decorating a bedroom which has a ridiculous spotlight attatched to the wall. I moved into this house 6weeks ago and I want to remove this spotlight and not replace it with anything. My problem is that I don't know what I should do with the wires that are in the wall. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Assuming when you take away the lamp you are just left with a red, back and green/yellow cable, you can just get a small plastic terminal block rated at about 5 amps and connect the wires individually in its own separate terminal block. i.e. one wire into one cable block and screw it tight....you can get a strip of terminal blocks very cheaply from B&Q etc, and you just basically tear off a group of 3 to suit the 3 wires you will have.........Secondly just push the wires and terminal blocks into the back box that the wires are coming out of and then you can buy a cover blanking plate, this looks like a socket outlet that you push a plug into but has no plug holes or a switch, its just blank and screw it on to cover the hole

Just seperate each cable and wrap them with insulating tape (electrical tape) ensuring that no copper can touch ne thing and just push them into the wall. insulation tape is very safe and is commonly used by electricians and can be got from most hardware shops about 70 cent a coil.

You could fit a small junction box to terminate the wires into. The best solution though is to trace the cable back to source and remove altogether but this may mean some touching up of the plaster and decoration.
