hotpoint 1000 first edition wm52 wont spin but will wash ok pumps water out no problem and drum turns while in wash cycle whats up does it need new brushes in the motor or a new belt please help
these have out of balance protection,try with machine empty on spin cycle.If spins then assume out of balance load caused no spin condition(small load causes same fault).. If not then could be fault with timer..

check your brushes and connections/spade ends to brushes if burnt you will need to replace both brushes and pump
