I've got a 1999 Alfa omeo GTV 2.0 T-Spark. At low revs it's OK and the engines fine but put your foot down and it won't go above 4000 revs - It just seems to miss-fire and lose power until you ease of the throttle and then it seems OK again. Could this be timing or something more serious?
does sound like the airflow meter is faulty but they are about £50 and easy to fit yourself. Just need a screwdriver.
If you can find a friendly Alfa garage with one in stock, just fit it and see if it fixes the problem. If it does buy it if not give it back and book it in for a service :-(
