i have just purchase a pc usb web camera however it is saying microsoft doesn't recognise this. i purchased this via ebay, thought it looks brand new and the ebay seller had a very high rating. the software is 168z

Hi , don't know if this will help but when I installed my logitech webcam I had the same problem, all I had to do was uninstall everything, then disconnect the webcam, restart the computer then put the disk that came with it in first, install the software and drivers from that and only after that plug the webcam in, don't know if it will work for you but it worked for me.
