Quite a common fault with this tool, it will probably be the flywheel which has an integral key which fits onto the tapered crankshaft and if the flywheel works loose the key breaks up and the timing goes out. you can file out a new keyway in the flywheel and make a new key out of keysteel, it was successful on mine
