how do i change the thermostat on my transit diesel 1996/7?

find the sender unit, normally near the thermostat housing. dissconect the wire and eath it with key turned on. if the gauage goes up off the scale the sender is faulty. if it doesnt move the problem is elsewhere, so trace back from sender.
