i havetwo dimplex xmc 724n combi storage heaters in my rented house and both are not working i suspect that someone put clothes to dry on them and tripped 'LINK FUSE' i was told that this fuse is located on the top right of the heater near the control switches if this is your problem they should be available from any good supplier

hi,
behind the input control switch there is a black circular plastic thing and there is a white stick projected out from the centre of the black plastic thing. press towards inside, we can hear a click sound.

I think I have fixed mine. I'll know tomorrow morning.

When I took the top off, there was a black plastic roughly
semi-circular thing connected at left and right. Circuit tester
indicated that there was no connection between left and right.

There was a white plastic thing sticking out of the back of the
black plastic roughly semi-circular thing. I pushed this in. It
clicked. I tested for connectivity again, and now there is a
connection.

Thanks to previous posters here and to those who run this
site.

A simple thing like the thermal cut-out tripping should be
fixable by anyone who has done basic school physics and
knows how to use a screwdriver. No thanks to the website
that tried to charge thirty or forty US dollars for the manual

Get a time served electrician to repair it stick to what you know. In electrics a little knowledge is a dangerous knowledge he will probably charge you £45 max.

Sounds as if you have tripped the thermal cut out. This is located by switching the unit off at the wall, taking the front panel off ( 2 Screws located at the bottom of the heater at the extreme left and right of the heater). At the top right of the heater you will see a plate. hold this on the right side and pull towards you. You will now see the charge controller. There are two black looking circles just below it. One has what looks like a stick in the middle. If you press this one, you should hear a "Click". That means it has been reset. Reassemble and switch back on at the wall and you should be sorted.

mines done the same first check if the electric is going through /get an electric screwdriver it lights up when electric is going through / check the elements if ok then check link fuse it is were the heat input control is touch it with screwdriver as sometimes they snap if so get wire and replace it and last like mine the thermostat gone cant check as there is 2/ around £54 cheaper to gey 2nd one.
