How can i fix a ripped shirt?

Any ripped shirt, in my case, my dog bit a hole into my very expense dress.

Simply cross stich the dress with a similar color thread. However, if this does not work becasuse that area of the dress is now very scrunched, add more fabric of the similar kind or add beads to make an interesting and elegant piece with a twist of your imagination.
