during tow under door where gas cylinder goes ha s cracked. how do i fix this.why did it happen

On what, or do we have to guess as part of reply?

here's my guess of cause and repair
could be tow rope hitched wrong place pulling up cracking what I will guess as fibreglass bumper so to stop the crack 'running' (Getting longer) drill small hole each end and fill crack with fibre glass paste.
