Asko "Excellence" washer-how can i stop the wash cycle?

I have an Asko washer, about 13 years old. The front door is leaking as it's filling. I think a piece of clothing may be caught in the seal of the door. I can't find a way to terminate the cycle and open the door. If i let the cycle continue water will pour out thoughout. How can I get the door open?

While I would hope and assume that you have resolved your problem by now I will still add a response. There are a couple of options. The first I would try is to press and hold the open door button. It will stop the program and start to pump out the tub until it reaches a level below the door bottom. It will then open the door. If you discover that it is a piece of clothing, adjust it and close the door. It should resume the program. If that fails turn off the power and after an appropriate pause turn it back on. Then use the same open door technique to drain the tub and make the necessary adjustments. You will then need to re-enter your chosen program to start over. If that fails shut off and disconnect the power. Get a bunch of towels and pack them around the door and on the floor to catch any spillage. Then remove the lower panel behind which is a red pull ring (you may need a screw driver to make it accessible). Pulling this ring will unlock the door manually. I hope you do not need to resort to the last alternative, although the actual amount of water in these machines is minimal. Hope this helps, if not the original enquirer then some one else in the future. These instructions relate mostly to instructions that came with the machine, though the information was a bit vague. I suspect it was a translation from swedish.
