My Electra AWM 800 handle has come off..... how can I fix it ?

I broke my old washing machine Electra AWM 800 handle yesterday and want to know if buying a new handle would fix machine as there is a time lock on the door? As I'm not sure whether snapping the handle as affected the time lock?
Many thanks AA ! One last question I did a quick experiment by closing the door without the handle and turned the power on however the washing machine would not start ??? Would a new handle cure this problem also ??

breaking the handle will not have damage the door interlock just change the handle and everything should be ok
