How can I fix my home alarm system?

During a recent power cut my alarm system activated. I could'nt get it to turn off then I noticed the power on light on the keypad was not lit up. The pad would not operate and I dont seem to be able to get power to it. The power light on the main box is on and the PIR's all are showing active.
Any ideas?.
The system is an Accenta 8 Mini manufactured by Advanced Design Electronics . Their Technical helpline 0151-549 1550 is now no longer available

Hi I have an Advantage home alarm which goes off even when not set. Came home from work and keyed in code to disarm alarm, after about an hour i was sat watching tv and alarm started, reset and it was fine for about 15 mins then went off again. On each occassion the red warning light was on the display panel above the 24HR symbol any ideas

my alarm system is working on and off,,meaning it sometimes works and sometimes does not work. It sounds off sometimes and sometimes it does not. I can type in the code and it sounds like it is working fine, then I come home and it does not give me a warning like a bleeping sound and I have even forgot to trip it with the code and it does not make a sound..Now once in awhile it does work fine and goes off..Anyone know what this could be

IF YOUR KEY PAD IS NOT WORKING,SOUNDS LIKE THE FUSE HAS GONE.DISCONNECT 240V MAINS POWER AND TAKE OFF COVER OFF THE PANEI ,NOT KEYPAD,THEN IN THE TOP RIGHT HAND SIDE THERE WILLBE A 1AMP GLASS FUSE CHANGE IT .THAT SHOULD DO IT.

I had similar issue. We live on a estate which was built approx five years ago, so all the alarms were installed around that time. Recently we had power cut, and the alarms went off, due to the backup battery in the controll panel dead. This probably needs to be repalced every four years. I ordered the battery from www.tlc-direct.co.uk. Replaced the bettery, and then although the keypad lights came backon, but pressign any buttons would not do anything, similar to the problem experienced by the original questioner.
This is what I did:
1. Remove all power (I switched off at the mains) including the backup battery.
2. On the control panel (not keypad) remove wire/s from 17 (mine was red) and 27 (if any).
3. Using a spare electric wire approx 12" long, inserted and connected up 17 to 27 (looped)
4. Connect battery and switch main power. The alarm will go off.
5. On the keypad enter your user code. This stopped the alarm and all was normal.
6. Take extra care as the system is now live (not recommended but this is what I did) - remove wire from 17 and then 27. Do not touch live wires.
7. Re-insert the red wire in 17, and 27 (if any).
8. Put the battery in close the control panel cover.
All should be back to normal.
Test alarms by switching off the mains and/or by setting various zones, etc.
I am not much of a DIY person, but managed to follow the instructions in various manuals and Google'ing the internet.

To late but this might be of interest to other alarm users.
I had the same problem with my Scantronic alarm system.
Turned the power off to work on lights off went the conroll box alarm with 'Tamper' Fault and Service lights on two latter ones flashing.
I did the reset and 15mins later off it went again. After a couple of times it went silent and I finished the lightss and powered up again. But back came the problem. I took the main feed box to the alarm fuse out that stopped it. left it out for a day then replaced off when the box siren again. After several attempts it went quiet for a day then started again.
Four goes on the reset sequence and it reset.
I contacted Scantronic the makers as the installers had moved
and they said the battery power is low and registering a fault even though the power is on, until that builds up it will keep faulting, providing of course no other part of the alarm has been tampered with. So check the battery power before anything else.

Firstly I am not familiar with your particular panel so I need a few details.
Is your keypad a seperate keypad or does it contain the main alarm unit as well ??
