Go to www.lenovo.com (Lenovown the ThinkPad brand now.) and download a Hardware maintenance manual. Work your way through the diagnostics. However sometimes a System Board error means just that a blown system board which needs replacing entirely. As the machine is so old now its probably only worth scrapping.
