Mend Bathroom Appliances, Baths and Showers

My 9.5kw Gainsborough shower trips the fuse everytime i turn it on??

My 9.5kw Gainsborough shower has tripped the fuse evrytime i turn it on at first i thought it was the shower but then i got it replaced and it is still doing it. the shower is connected to a double pole connection switch which in turn is connected to a Wylex 63A 30mA DP RCD which is located in the consumer unit. the instilation manual says i should have a 40/45A fuse and/with a 30mA RCD. Id love to know how to solve the problem and how do I fix it? Can anyone help me?
Any help would be great.

try turning the controls to cold and low then turn it on. it should start and run for a little while maybe. doing this you are only running the pump on its own (no heating element)

as you increase the heat and pressure control the trip switch (mcb/rcd or rcbo) should trip because it will take to much current (amps)

if this happens you need to check what size cable is going from your fuse board to your shower. it needs to be 10sq mm for the shower you have fitted.

if it is not 10sq mm then just exchange your shower for something of less KW's. try something around 8kw.

if the cable is of the correct size then you need to make sure your trip switch (mcb/rcd or rcbo) is rated correct. maybe 45amps.

hope this helps.

HI YOU SHOULD HAVE A SINGLE MCB/RCD RATED AT 45 AMP IF YOU HAVE A CRABTREE BOARD IT SHOULD BE 50AMP AND WIRED IN 10MM AND EARTH CABLE A LOT OF PEOPLE STICK 32 AMP BREAKERS IN OF WHICH WILL NOT CARRY THE CURRENT AND LOAD SUPPLY 32AMP BREAKER ARE ONLY GOOD ON SHOWERS UP TP 7.5 KW

You have it one. If i have the isolation switch on and the shower off it does not trip.

As soon as i turn then shower itself on it trips.

the shower has already been replaced, but has done this with both gainsborough 9.5Kw showers. I thought it would be the shower the first time. So changed took it back for a replacement. however with the second shower it does the same thing!

Please Help Me????????

ok dont know how much you know about electrics so i`ll start wth basics, your rcd will trip out if there this a fault to earth, this means if either the live or neutral is in any way touching earth it will trip. if you have the isolation switch on and the shower off and it does not trip then it must be the shower. If it trips when you turn the isolater switch on (with shower off)then its in the hard wiring from that switch to the shower. if you give more detail then i might be able to give a better evaluation
