Zanussi fridge freezer problem ZX57/3W?

Dear sir/madam, My fridge/freezer stopped working. I checked
it out and found the thermo U/s. I replaced the thermo and it
went ok but it started to freeze the products in the fridge and
the freezer was excessively cold. There are two stats inside
the freezer compartment, one at 10 degrees and the other at
40 degrees. They were both open circuit when measured when
the fridge was defrosted. Do you think this could be the problem as it stopped cooling the fridge but not the freezer.
