Why does the word test come up?

The word test has come up in the lcd on our Hotpoint WF640. The machine will not work and just seems to go into a test mode. Suspect we have presssed the buttons in a combination that has set it off. How do we reverse it.

I got this answer from another site. These machines go into test mode when the start and on/off button are pressed together. To fix, hold down the start button until it goes out of test mode, then press on/off button until the letters D:OFF appear. Good luck - it worked on mine.
