my westinghouse 905 dishwasher comes on by itself when plugged in?

my westinghouse 905 dishwasher comes on by itself when plugged in. The motor or pump starts up but no indicator lights come on the door. The motor runs without being switched on.
It's got me baffled. It's like a phantom.
Any suggestons or access to a workshop manual would help.
