My new/used Maytag stopped working?

I bought a used Maytag washer last week and it was working fine..(model #LAT9206BAM..toploader) I did a small load of towels last night and everything was fine..this morning I went to do a load of my husbands work clothes and when I pulled the knob..nothing..nodda..zip..no click,no water, nothing..If the motor just stopped would it have done it over night while nothing was in use?..I checked the power source and everything seems the same..the few things I have found online for 'just not working' is saying the 'Lid Switch' which I have located but not sure what to do with it..it also mentioned fuse but haven't found out how to remove the lid switch yet to find the fuse..any help would be a God send....Thank You for your time,...
frustrated housewife with no money and now no washer..

Thank You for your response..I managed to pull the lid switch off and check it and it was working properly (clicking when pushed)..I was just boggled as to what it could be..then,like they say,the simplest solution is sometimes the last one to hit you..came to me,and I tried to plug something else into the outlet and sure enough the outlet had blown..so I have gotten it replaced and my washer is working again...Thanks for your time in trying to help me with this..just happy to finally have my washer back and laundry completed..:)

I would almost bet money that it is indeed the lid switch. They are very easy to replace and are usually in stock at any local Maytag dealer. In my experiences, the older Maytags generally use the same common lid switch - go to http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearchSSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=454909&PPStack=1 to view part. For $10- $15 you should be back in bussiness. If your husband fells comfortable enough to try it, he could simplly try by-passing it to see if that is infact the problem, since most companies will not allow returns an any electrical parts. Good luck
