how do i make my washing machine spin?

We moved house and hotpoint ultima 1200 wm 75 was already installed.I like to handwash woollens but need to just spin in the machine, but i cannot seem to get the machine to do this without going through the full cycle. Can anyone help?

locate a LOW SPIN point on the programme,not a HIGH one with machine power off ,insert clothes in machine close door, now advance programmer round to just short of the LOW spin point turn on power machine will try to drain but then spin this works on a wm63 model same on HIGH speed saving time.
