Hi Ben, the clearances are up to 20/11/96:- inlet 0.2mm exhaust 0.3mm from 21/11/96:- inlet 0.2mm exhaust 0.5mm there should be a sticker on the rocker box cover to tell you which yours should be set to, your car might be registered 97 but it might of been made in 96!
the rockers are numbered 1~8 from the thermostat end

the easiest way to adjust them is use multiples of 9 ie #1 compressed adjust #8, #2/#7 etc the valves must be adjusted with the engine cold, these engines are normally quite noisey in the area of the tappets but do not be tempted to reduce the gap to make it quieter!
