i had this old tractor mower given to me. It has a 10 hp k241 kohler engine. There was no coil when i got it. I purchsed a 12 volt coil and installed it. The high voltage wire comes out of it and goes directly on the spark plug. My question is where do the other wires go? There is a red wire and I assume that it connects to the +. There is a white wire that I connected to the -. There is also a black 3" wire coming from a small round condenser which I also connected to the - . The engine turns over fine but I get no spark to the plug. Any suggestions.
One side of the coil goes to the ignition switch, therefore picking up a live voltage from the battery, (+ve) the other one goes to the contact breaker points usually hidden beneath the engine flywheel (-ve). The condenser lead you see is actually a TV supressor and it goes to the same connection as the -ve one.
