Brake lights stuck on on Citroen xsara picasso. How do i fix this?

MY brake lights are constantly on on my Citroen Xsara Picasso, but the brakes work fine and the onboard computer does not pick up any fault. How do i fix this?

Thank you for guidance to the foot brake light switch locatioh.
The switch unit needed to be pushed forward to depress the push button to stop the brake lights staying on all the time.
It took me less than ten minutes and saved 40 quid to pay the local garage

Thanks Matty P. This did the trick although it was a bit fiddly. Citreon dealers must employ very little people

for me the rurn spring on the brake pedal was sloppy and the weight of the pedal "made" the sensor

Just solved this problem myself tonight. Mine is an 03 1.8 petrol, the switch that needs turning is just above the brake pedal behind a flimsy felt textured cover. Just pop a few of the plastic retainers until you can see the required plug( you`ll have to be on your knees by this time). Then unplug the plug, turn the switch clockwise so that when the brake pedal is in its released position, the little button on the end of the switch is being pressed by the brake pedal arm which should stop your lights from staying on.

The switch has two wires and is clearly visible where the fusebox cover is removed. The connector is about 6mm square and has a cutout on one side, although you wont see this until you have removed the plug. I rotated the switch clockwise to allow the lights to go off.

the brake light will stay on if the brake light switch has become loose or missalighed. remove the fuse box cover, wiggle the brake pedel up and down and you will find the switch. with the help or an asistant watching the lights realign the switch, its a very simple job but it is hell on your knuckles!!!

if you take off fuse box cover in front of you to the left is a switch with wires. switch is connected to brake pedal. pull out wires and turn switch clockwise twice. reconnect. done

underneath the brake pedal is a 'push-in' switch, adjust the switch (anti-clockwise) to the desired location so the brake comes on goes off when the brake is released

Had this problem and it was due to the pedal having a brake sensor that was loose, also made the car lose power when i accelerated sometimes. Was 2 HDI 03. All sorted now.

The brake switch is connected to the pedal mechanism somewhere....its probably become disconnected. If you cant see the switch above the pedal it could be on the operating bar on the passenger side, a la Peugeot.
