Mend Whirlpool 4214164 Washing Machine Drain Water Pump

Whirlpool washer won't drain?

Our whirlpool washer (that we got second hand from my Dad) won't drain water. My husband replaced the water pump and we checked all the hoses to make sure they are not clogged, but it still won't drain.

It fills and agitates and then STOPS. No noises. I tried lifting the lid and manually holding down the switch, but that did not work either.

the lid switch can be faulty regardless if you depress it. if it is a newer model (less than 12 yrs) you would have to access it by removing the outer cabinet. best thing to do is go to some appliance parts websites and type in your model number to see the "exploded view" to get an idea how to get it apart.

I fixed it the good old female way --- I Beat It.

Apparently it was the lid switch, but it didn't get activated until I smacked it around and violently stabbed it with a screw driver. Thanks for letting work my problem out online though...it helps to talk it out.
