I have an 02 plate zafria the central locking won,t lock or unlock recently changed the battery .key fob worked then had key fob checked and is working .have to open car manualy which sets the alarm off .have tried to putting key in ignition on position one to reset but no joy any ideas

My vauxhall zaphira 2007 won't lock. Tried key in door and it only locks that door. I have a display light saying doors open but they all closed. Please help as only driver door closes so remainding doors all unlocked. Also lock switch in car does not work. Thankyou

Changed batteries ....didn't work, put blob of blue tack on top of
battery .......didn't work, increased amount of blue tack and it worked!!!. Spare key still don't work but I'm selling car so not too bothered! .... Ta for the tip!

After 13 years I had to replace a battery! Although the procedure seemed slightly different to what that suggested here, it took only a few seconds before it was operating correctly.

After moving the key to position 2, I locked the door and it unlocked itself automatically (safety feature?) and since then has worked properly. Just got out and started to use it normally.

A further point. My key is very sensitive to the position of the battery and it took a couple of tries to get it seated such that it worked at every operation. But it is, after all, 13 years old.

Done all this with the keys and ignition on still nothing, I have an 07 plate although the locking button in the car still works can anyone help???

Thank you for your comment, your idea of key in ignition with the lights on only and then press the locking button on the key fob, this worked a treat!!

Remote key fob,cut a square piece of card from a duracell battery pack
fit inside of battery cover,make sure the two little prongs of the battery holder are over the little connection point,refit battery cover.

Hello All.

i have an Opel Zafira from 2000, just bought it actually, and the key couldn´t open the car locks, remotely, so i had to insert the key into the lock every time, but there was light when buttons were pressed.

so i found a solution for it, i will post it here, to hopefully help someone else in the same situation as me.

Step 1. Get into your car, and close the doors
Step 2. Insert the key in the ignition and turn it to position 2 ( car not started, but light is on)

Step 3. Press then lock button of the key, and hold it for 2 seconds, wait for the doors to lock, and then unlock againg.

After this i went out of my vehicle, and tried the key remote unlock and it works now :-)

I hope it will help someone else :-)

Please note! this will only work on originally supplied keys for the vehicle.

My Zafira key fob wasn't locking or unlocking my car. Bought a new battery, still not working, then I read this forum. Refitted the old battery with some bluTack on the back, now it works fine! Thank you for the tip!

Must have inadvertantly pressed the lock button while in ignition. Thought the chip must have burnt off when it wasn't working. Had no idea about putting it in ignition and doing the trick. I wonder if the Vauxhall dealership would have given this advice for free.

Just brought a 51 plate Zafira remote locking not working with either Key- 2 new batteries with a small blob of blue tac on top of each battery, then in the igntion turn key to 2nd position (lights on dash on only) click the lock and wow! all working..... thanks great tips from the wonderful web! Cheers

That worked well. Once we had the battery in the right place and wedged with card. Make sure you shut the door before you turn the ignition lights on, then lock and unlock -magic!

Great. Just tried that tip on my Zafira from 02. Both keys now work for the first time since I brought the car, years ago. Yipee.
Oh and another tip, needed to put a softpad on top of the battery (you know the sort of thing you put under furniture to stop the legs scratching the floor), would probably work just as good with blu tack. Otherwise the connection on my battery did not work work for some reason. Had to do the same thing for both remotes.

It works with mine! I desperately tried to stop the car alarm which went off when my car remote control failed. The tip was excellent, it stopped the alarm as well as re-setting my remote control!

when lining up the prongs on the key, stick a lump of blu tack inside the key, holds it in place and rectifies it most of time.

I have had the same problem for months now and have tried the solution above but nothing; the alarm does go off if i open the door manually but all you need to do is turn the key back and forward for a 2nd time to stop the alarm.

Spot on put key in ignition turned engine lights on clicked shut on the key fob twice and hey presto it worked. Cheers i am guessing this 10 second job would have cost me about £100 if i had taken it to a vauxhall garage.

07 Zafira - I put the key in the ignition, turned on the ignition lights only, then pressed the lock button on the fob twice, took the key out and tested the remote and both remotes started working properly. Great tool the internet.

Spot on, after half an hour of keep trying the battery holder in different positions, I finally got it right & upon putting key in ignition, shutting door & turning the key so that instrument panel illuminated, a press of the door close button caused the central locking to operate and everything works great, thanks.
