Mend Renault TD 2000 Difficult 2nd Gear

85 renault trafic, difficult to get into 1st and 2nd gear?

My 1985 td 2000 renault trafic has become difficult to get into first and second gear. I had a new main shaft put in the gearbox 2 years ago but have only done about 5000 kms since then. Any ideas?

I have now found the problem was caused by a nut missing from the gear stick assembly, just above the gear box.
