i own a gainsborough 8.5 sdl shower unit . for some reason the water supply doesnt stop when i switch the unit off , and ive had too turn the water supply off at the pipe.

Join the club. It is a very common fault with these apparently and gainsborough won't sell us the replacement parts needed. You have to buy the whole 'engine' as they call it
