Nissan Primastar enging cuts out!!!!!!!!!!?

Hi i have a primastar 04 1.9dci it will drive around fine plenty of power stops and starts etc, but then for no apparant reason the glow plug lights will come on and the van will splutter and stop, its like it has run out of fuel, i then open the bleed valve by the fuel filter pump the fuel bulb, dont seem like any air comming out, after about 5 to 10 minutes it will start and drive sometimes for loads of miles or just a few hundred feet but will eventually get me home. once cold it will drive again fine for a few miles then the same problem again.I have checked on a computer but only 1 code poo32 heater controll circut ho25, but i was told this is only a preheat code not the cause of the problem. HELP!!

thanks

Just to say, the injector wires on my 06 had been chaffed by the airbox rubbing on them. The airbox is mounted on rubber bushings which wear and in the case of the rear one.. disintegrate. This allows the airbox to drop and rest on the top of the wires where they bend. In time they will rub through, you'll not know anything until the coil light starts appearing.

P0032 is NOT a lambda sensor error on DIESEL vehicles, but an error for the rail pressure sensor on Renault/Nissan vehicles.

Hi Steve, i've just bought a 53 plate drove down from Newcastle to Rye East Sussex and have the same problems.
Called out RAC they did a computer diagnostic and didn't find any fault. Got them to check faults for Primastar, Traffic and Vivaro. They could only find one with the Traffic which was a small pin hole on the fuel pipe to the fuel pump. Looks like i'll try this as well. If you get any joy please let me know, as i'll do likewise. Primastar up-date , spent Sunday taking the van apart (only joking) no took of the air filter box and the all the injector wires apart from 1 had the wires exposed, the airbox rubs against the loom and had chaffed the wires to expose them, I spent a good hour separating the wires and taping them up with nearly a roll of black insulating tape, then I cut up a sponge to use as padding then replace the air box. Today I will give the van a run and hopefully this has cured the problem Ill let you know.

hi Steve, the cheapest place I've found is www.autotekelectronics.co.uk just enter you vans reg no. and it will come up with all the relevant parts, but they can be difficult to remove due to the heat they are subjected too, so you might be as well off going to a tyre & exhaust place they will have the correct sockets to remove it. Regarding the primer bulb that might be due to the ECU cutting the fuel from the tank and the engine sucking the available fuel in the filter assy??
Good luck

Thanks again nigel ! drove the van today for about 130 miles drove doing 70s mph supurb untill i got about 1 mille from home.......grrrrrrrrrrrr!! I went through my usual routine, unplug this and that replug, but noticed the primer bulb going to the fuel canister seemed soft as I squeased it so I primed until it was hard under and presssure, should this be under pressure all the time , maybe air is entering the fuel system would this add to the problems ? any way I will cheque the wireing and change the lambada, were is the best place to get one cheapest ? many thanks steve

Hi Steve, the heater supply voltage 12v shorting to the signal output line wil cause the ECU to throw a total wobbly as its looking for a 0.9~1.2v on the signal wire so a voltage X10 it will just kill the engine to protect itself, that taped section of the wiring you mention definately need inspecting, it could be that as the engine moves under accellerating and decellerating the wires are touching, if its not the wiring it could be the lambda sensor breaking down as it gets hot then after a few minutes of cooling it comes good again for a while until it heats up again, let us know how you get on nige110162@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks Nigel, i will try that, so could lambda sensor cause the van to stop like this and start again and drive normally until it stops again I have noticed some black tape wraped arount the wiring loom under the air filter so will check the wires are not shorting any were!! thanks very much for your time, and any more info you could think of !!

Hi Steve, code P0032 is the heated oxygen sensor (lambda sensor) control circuit high, possible cause's wiring short to heater positive supply, heated oxygen sensor (lambda sensor) or ECU this fault will with out doubt cause the ECU to put on the fault light and kill the engine. I would first replace the lambda sensor and chech the wiring to see if it has been burnt anywhere so causing a short from the heater supply to the signal output wire
