In removing a lost CD from the mechanism some of the plastic CD lifting parts as well as the top metal plate came out of their locations slots. Does anyone know/have a diagramme of where they should fit?

The basic answer will be no as all CD players makes & models are different. Spend a bit of time playing around with it and see if you can see what`s not working so that you can possibly replace the loose bits. Don`t force anything because if it breaks then the only answer is a new player.
