Leaking Reich mixer tap?

Had it all to bits but not sure if we've put it back correctly, couldn't find anything wrong inside the ceramic cartridge but have two small black collar like rubber bits left over!!. Not sure if they came from inside but its leaking worse than ever now through the top rather than the bottom

If your tap is a Reich Charisma swivel spout and you have put in a new cartridge, but it still leaks from the bottom of the spout, and the top dome, the problem is the rubber seals (2) at the bottom of the tap where it swivels. When the tap is off, the spout remains full of water and if the seals are faulty, the water seeps out of the joins. The problem is, nobody seems to stock replacement seals!! I've tried everywhere, but no joy. If anyone knows where to buy them, PLEASE let me know!

Hi,
have the same probelm with my kitchen tap. On taking the tap to bits is the cartridge bit the top bit with the 3 joined rubber rings on the face.
Also is it possible it could be the bottom part of the plastic inset of the tap (the bit theat the red and blue push fit connectors go into. Can't see any damage to either plastic peice. Don't know whether to buy a replacement cartridge just in case its npt that and its actually the bottom bit. Any advice anyone.

Paul

Just fixed mine so here goes. It was leaking from the top, (frost damage) and Autosleepers advised me to replace the tap. I managed to undo the handle by removing the blue/red plastic grommet and inserting a small allen key. 1st mistake, you don't need to undo the grommet completely. 2nd mistake, you don't need to remove the chrome "sleeve" either. All you need to do is undo the brass nut and remove the cartridge. Total time taken about 3 hours, knowing what I know now, 10 minutes.....

Similar problem with leak was told the cause was frost damage. I was not convinced so dismantled the tap. Problem caused by damage to flange on the blue and red connectors on the base of the body due to the water pipes being clamped too tight to the wall of the caravan. Solved by rotating the connectors and releasing the clamps on the supply pipes. Really need new connectors to cure the leak as connectors seem to move with vibration or water pressure but can't see spares anywhere. Can anyone help?

had same problem remove inlet pipes and check inside body look for tiny black marks these are cracks which allow water to pass from each side passing tap valve not much you can do but replace tap (ouch) £50 plus. p.s. cause supposedly vibration could be as mine started in ireland on back roads

The Reich mixer tap in my caravan was leaking from the top even when the tap was not being used because the water system is pressurised (no microswitch, no wires).
The problem was not due to the rubber seal (3 joined rings - like a face) but to wear inside the cartridge itself.
Got a new cartridge from liesureshopdirect.com (about
£12 incl postage) - problem sorted!
PS. Clean out any scale or other deposits before dropping the new cartridge in - but DON'T use anything that might scratch or score the soft brass housing where the seal sits.
PPS. Don't over tighten the ring nut or you may distort the cartridge. I found that finger tight (hard as you can) then turn one more "flat" with a spanner was enough. If in doubt, under tighten it then gradually tighten until leaking just stops - and then just a LITTLE bit more to make sure.

Thanks for the advice David. In the end i couldn't get a new cartridge in time. My normal caravan shop didn't stock them -only the taps and they hadn't got the exact one so got one from leisureshopdirect.com in the -best price i could find and delivered really quickly.Went straight in no more messing. We ended up ruining the wire to the micro switch on the old one by the constant unscrewing and trying it. Colin be careful if you undo it all - there are lots of bits inside and the wire is hard to get back in position so the switch sits where it should

Try taking the cartridge apart and you'll see a 3 ring (bit like a face) rubbere washer on a round plastic disc, also three holes - see if the plastic bit is damaged if so you'll have to buy a new cartridge, otherwise replace the two rubber washers.

Just discovered the same problem last weekend. Reich Mixer in the bathroom leaking underneath - looks like a constant drip down the middle area of the tap housing. Haven't taken it to bits yet as I was hoping that latest edition of The Caravan Manual might help, but nothing in the book which helps. I think even this edition might be a bit old now ( published 2000, I think ). Hoping I might find out some more this week - our plumber has touring caravan. Have never used this site before, but will try to let you know if I get anywhere.
