how can i remove aboutblank?

You need to re-format your hard drive....the home page browser hijackers are now embedded deep in the registry and none of the above programs will remove it.

Save yourself a few hours and backup your music, pictures and documents you may need to CD, DVD or removable thumb drive. Format the hard drive and when done make a copy of your registry by exporting it and re-naming it. Make sure you only copy you basics, IE, My Documents, etc.

Keep the clean registry for future problems.

Look download spyware doctor from PC Tools, free download, and disconnect the physical modem connection to the back of your PC. Then reboot into Safe Mode and run the Spyware Doctor program and any other programs you have installed, the more the better. Manually change your homepage URL back to what you want. There is an option to do this in Spyware Doctor. I had this same problem so trust me on this. If you want to really go after this sucker also download Hijack This! and run a scan in safe mode. Mark every item that says AboutBlank in the description and click Fix checked items. Keep doing these things in safe mode until there is nothing left. Let me know how it turns out. Oh yeah one more thing, download some kind of Antivirus software that runs continuously in the background to detect these items before they install themselves. Keep all spyware software updated daily and run them often. And for god sakes upgrade to XP.

I have both of those spyware programmes and they havent found it out thanks for the advice. I will try doing that but if it doesnt work is there anything else you can suggest to get rid of it because i relly relly want to get rid of it.

goto the temp internet folder and delete everything in there and also the cookies folder. it may tell you that you cannot delete the index but just deselect it and delete the rest. I cannot understand why your spyware and adware programs are not picking up on this. The two best ones are AD-AWARE and Spybot search and distroy you can get these from www.computeractive .co.uk as free downloads
