Flashing lights/ Hotpoint Aquarius WD440?

Occasionally during final spin cycle machine freezes, and the "time saver" & "rinse hold" LED's along with the ON/OFF led flash. The machine can be reset by unplugging, but the fault will re-appear a few washes later. Reading the list of fault codes provided in answer to another posters question it looks like I have an "NTC" fault.
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what is an NTC, and what repair is most lightly required. Thanks for taking the time to reply....
