where do i check the transmission fluid?

i have a 1997 john deere sabre (model 2254 HV), how do i get to and where do i check the transmission fluid level? while i'm at it do i have a filter? i don't think i do.

I'm in the same boat as you Kevin. I too have a JD Sabre and am wondering where I can check the trans fluid level? I see your question was posted a year ago so I'm hoping you got an answer by now and can provide an answer to me.
