I have a ST 185 Homelite grass trimmer and need to replace the recoil rope, have it taken apart all the way down to the clutch and don't no how to remove the clutch, can any one help? I don't want to end up breaking them!
Inside the square end of the clutch there is a torx screw. Hold the engine from turning by inserting a screwdriver into the flywheel, then losen the torx screw. This enables you to remove the outer shell of the clutch. Then un screw the clutch plates from the center bolt (still holding the flywheel). There are two of these clutch plates. Then you can remove the plastic housing and get access to the pull rope.
