deawoo matiz /powerloss?

Whilst driving i sometimes find a sudden drop in power and car becomes jerky, if i change down to 2nd gear it picks up speed.Its worse in 3rd and 4th gear.Ive changed the plugs and leads,but to no avail,i thought maybe it could be fuel starvation. any ideas?
