The B gas engineer says thatour boiler is beyond economical repair i.e the part that requires replacement is grommet seal they would not give me the part number is this true? they say that even if it is fixed it will not be safe, although they have issued safety certs for the last 20years, how can it suddenly become unsafe? i feel they are only interested in getting us to install a new boiler. Last week the boiler was working perfectly. the problem that arose is that it stopped ignigiting when switched on,
go to http://www.interpartspares.co.uk/ to double check the availablity of the part you need. but this list is not always up to date as I have been unable to find some of the parts that they say are still available. If it says obsolete then you have no chance of getting it.

contact british gas again and insist that they send the technical service manager (TSM) for your area. As far as I can remember all the grommets for your old netaheat are still available although not a lot of other parts are. I would say less than half the parts are still available. British Gas are not allowed by law to bodge up you boiler by fitting the wrong or similar looking parts so please remember that when calling in a third party cowboy engineer

british gas are out for one thing to get you to spend £4000 on a new boiler.
alot of these parts we are unable to get now but alot still are if you shop around.
just cause british gas use one supplyer who no longer has the part that the end of the line for your boiler
which is alot of rubbish
find a heating engineer who knows your boiler and he will get the part 9/10 times.
