Mend Kenmore Series 70

Kenmore 70 series wont spin in rinse, will start spin if on/off pulled?

Hi
I have a Kenmore 70 series Heavy duty model 110. I acts normal until spin cycle then won't spin. If I restart by pulling on/off it will start to spin. I might also be starting to make a different noise during spin cycle. What is the problem?

Had to break down & call the repairman. Weird noise was a little metal kitchen skewer that had been sucked into the pump. Pump ok but had to replace punctured drain hose. They replaced the gear case under a 5 year warranty for that part-Whew part would have been $252!

I had the same problem...Called Sears repair...Said they don't have a belt...That the clutch was out...Wanted 262.00 to fix it...I'm going to buy a new one...I hate waiting and listening for it to spin so that I can go boost it off...Good luck...The repairman said there is a lot of 70 series that has that problem...

First check the belt for wear and tension. Replace belt or tighten . The tub clutch plate may be worn or oil soaked causing it to slip.
