Mountfield have a very good helpline (number not to hand - sorry!). The diaphram on mine had gone, which stopped petrol getting to the carb. Replaced it and everything was fine.

have you tried the spark plug check the plug for a spark check the carberettor not fouled up check petrol is getting to carberettor also when taking out spark plug pull cord so the engine head reache the top and insert a screw driver and scratch the head it may need decoking best of luck
