Just fitted a electric smeg induction hob.power but no heat on hot plates?

Need to know troubleshouting for a smeg induction electric hob. We wired it up as stated in manual, switched power on and the control panel lit up but there is no heat coming through the hot plates. A letter 'F' and 'U' displayed on the control panel. We do not know what this means please help. Thank you

Hi Karen, you are putting a metal pan on the element circle and then turning on are you?As it is induction,it will not work till the metal pan creates the circuit.It does not glow like a normal halogen as it is a magnetic field.All the best.
