How do I change a kitchen spotlight bulb ?

It sounds stupid but, how do they come out ? We've tried pulling, we've tried twisting but nothing seems to work. There's so little space between the bulb and casing that you can't see the fitting, let alone get a finger in to help. It's a B+Q thing (basic range) with three lights hanging from a horizontal pole, each light with a bell shape casing around it.
