Chrysler Nav/CD changer won't load discs?

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300C with the Nav/6 disc changer in it. The other day when I went to change a disc, it ejected the selected disc and instead of displaying please insert disc, it tried loading a disc that wasn't there. I ejected all of the discs and it now shows No Discs Loaded, but if I hit the load button and select the slot, it just tries loading a disc, never asking to insert one first and then displays disc error and keeps trying over and over. I tried to reset it by disconnecting the neg bat terminal and pulling the radio fuse for a few hours but that didn't reset it. The dealer says I need a new cd player at $800 dollars but I can't believe some kind of reset wouldn't cure the problem since everything was working fine, nothing happened to it, it just got goofy. Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem. My radio won't load discs. When I press the load button, it clicks and gives me a disc error reading. My Navigation Cd will not eject. Here's what I've heard. If you can get the Nav Cd to eject, try replacing it with a new disc. I've heard that heat causes disc error readings on the Nav disc. The Nav Disc loads first when your vehicle is powered up and uses the same mechanism to load the music discs. Therefore, if the Nav disc has an "error read" it won't allow music disc to load. See if you can a borrow a disc from a friend or local dealer before buying one to test this theory. Good Luck!!
