how can i fix my rev counter on my 1993 corsa 1.5 td?

The rev counter signal comes from the alternator. If you drive through deep water you can notice that the rev counter stops if you hear the belt slipping. Since you say the battery light has now come on, it is pretty likly to be a fault with: the alternator belt tension, the alternator itself or the wires at the alternator connection.
