How do I repair a rotten window sill?

One of the windows in my house(Victorian House with sash windows) has a rotten sill. A section of it is rotten. How do I repair or replace the wooden sill?

Hi, I have 20 years of sash window repair so maybe can help. Dare I say, if you can fill it, do so, but hack out rotten, use wood hardner before filling and sand to finish.
Or if you need a new sill, buy a dvd on how to do this job, it is involved. but here is a short. bullet point: strip down sashes, weights and leave only the frame. 2. saw cut accross the pullystyle (inner frame) to just above the weights pockets. 3. cut pins holding in lower pullystyle and remove including the weights access. 4. with both sides now removed, the old sill will now lift (subject to more nails), your new sill can be cut to the same specs as the origional, and all replaced with a run of silicone under it as per building reg.
This is a skilled job.

My Husband and I scoured the internet to find a professional company that soley deals with rotten timber on conservatories and window repairs. we had 12 companies in and drew a grid in terms of who ticked all the right boxes. One company stood out from all the rest. Contemporary Renovations Ltd.
Every reference was praise after praise, they even had their own cleaning company that came into our house after all the renovations and cleaned the house top to bottom in tip top condition taking away all the stress of having to clean after after messy building work. What they charged me I would pay again because everything they promised to do on the list got done to a high standard.
Richard Thomas and his team are "head and shoulders " above the rest.

Check out the Dry-Flex / Dry-Fix epoxy resin products. I am using them to refurbish my 1930 bay-window and the results are excellent but vinyl gloves are a must because it's very sticky stuff. Set-up costs look a bit steep but in my view well worth the cost. Resin will fill up to 50mm but timber slips reduce the amount of filler required. I replaced 600mm of sill around a corner - solid as a rock - no fixings - can't see the joins. Limited outlets - 'phone distributor.

If it is a small area of rotted wood, you can use auto body filler. apply it generously, let it dry and sand it with metal sand paper (sandpaper used on metal, not actually metal itself). I have used this process sucessfully and saved plenty of people from installing new windows.
