Mend Briggs & Stratton XM 4.5 Lawn Mower Engine Magneto

Briggs & Stranton 4.5Hp Quantum No Spark?

I have a Briggs & Stranton Quantum XM 4.5 HP engine with no spark, I have removed the recoil and magneto/coil assembly and cleaned the gap and adjusted to 0.006" and still have no spark. How can I test the magneto/coil assembly or do i need to remove the flywheel and test components below?

Don't bother pulling the flywheel - there's nothing under it!

Check that the 'kill' wire connected to the small coil termnal is not grounded due to chafing etc. If not, you will probably need to replace the coil.

0.006" is too close - 0.020" is better. Use a standard business card.
