I paid £500 for a marksman diesel generator,Its a electric start it has 230v and 110v the 110v seems to work but the 230 dont work,i have only used 2 times Ileft it with a small machine engineer he could not find any info on it or repair it.So im left with a generator thats not any use,I have heard dont buy anything made in china can any body help thanks

Search for the manual for the Yanmar L70 engine, the Chinese engines are copies of the Yanmar unit and the instructions are generally the same for both engine types.

120 - 240 switch was falling apart on 1 I saw , 3x Changeover contacts
( could see cracks in it - terminals were also a loose fit )

All generator are made in china for one thing it is the cheapest place to make them only assembly might be done els where. Apart from that there may be a couple of things wrong on it and it works the same as any gen. RPM needs to be right 1500 r/min or 3000 r/min this will be on the alt description. It also have slip rings and this connects your excitation to to your AVR. The AVR in turn connects to the field excitation winding and is also connected to the field coils through a rectifier circuit you need to test all of these things. The system is based on technoligy from international companies as they let china make there spares and is the same for most generator. r/min is equal to hz voltage from avr in field coil equals volage out put a lot easyer than the engineering company makes it out to be.

Try www.directequipmentsales.co.uk , they sell spares for Marksman and may be able to help. I have a Suntom which is basically the same as Kipor, Youth, Hyundai, Marksman.

Try taking it back to where you bought it, they are the best place to start with. If you got it of EBay or at a sunday market then I think you are stuffed.
