Hinges on kitchen unit are lose due to screww hole damage?

My door hinges on one unit in my kitchen keep becoming lose as the screw holes are damaged. Is there a way of fixing the holes so the screw remain tight and the door will not drop.

There are a number of easy fixes

1. Just use longer normal screws where cabinets come together, so that you have at least 30mm if not 36mm of material to fix into.

If there are cabinets on the end, it is easy to have the door hinge reborred in a new position so that new screws could be used in slightly different positions where perhaps 15mm or 18mm is the total depth that the screw can fix into.

Have you thought of asking at your local kitchen retailer? They might just do all this for you, too.

You can sometimes fix this easily with a bit of wood - portion of match stick or cocktail stick depending on the damage. If necessary glue in piece of dowel and re-drill a new hole.
