why is the red light on on my boiler?

I have a myson midas boiler which was working fine ,then i decided to put the heating on which i havent done for quite some time,it made some strange noises then the pilot light went out,now i have no heating or hot water,just a red light saying see users guide.I have no manual ,i think its 11 years old .can anyone help please
