I had a similar problem which you could also have - there is an over temperature safety device which sits on top of the heater tank. On my shower this had corroded and went open circuit. A replacement from a local Mira stockist cost around £8 and it was easy to replace - with the power off of course. You can download the parts list from the Mira website.
