Can I fix a broken usb stick?

i im angry because my usb not working its not even flashing when i put it in the computer its anoying because i got a lot of worck on my usb. try to type in can my usb get fixed (and yes it can because i went on there but is said u have to pay about £39 that was the lowest price .......... now i have too start my course worck again (peek)..... :(

They can really help out anyone that needs a repair of lost files. If they cant return your files to you then there is no fee they will return your usb back to you how it was before, but that is unlikely to be the case, they will try what ever they can to repair your USB and give your files back. so i recommend everyone that has a problem with their USB's to use this websites help. I was using my usb at uni and it was working fine. I got it home and it wouldn't load up on my laptop, the redlight at the top of the usb stick usually lights up when its pluged in a computer but it was flashing, then eventually went out. Do you know what could be wrong with it and can my work be recovered?

my usb broke too, the plastic that covers the USB. or the important part of the whole device.
i need to ASAP how to fix it, i have all my projects and important documents on it.

Thanks very much for your advice. You have just saved me over £100 in rescuing 6 months worth of lesson resources from my memory pen, whcih I accidentally bent carrying my laptop with it attached.

you answer was so helpful. like a fool- i did the same thing as "stressed" described. ive just started a new job and have one months worth of vital data on the stick. i opened it up to look at the pins, 3 of the 4 are completely fine, but 1 is missing. Please can you suggest any kind of next step for me please?

I am assuming you are talking of the rectangular surround. If the centre piece is there with the four pins you can recover your data from the usb drive.

With the PC turned off remove the broken piece from the USB socket.
Can you re-attach this easily?, can you open the stick and ensure the surround is connected to ground?
Either way the stick drive should work as long as it has the four main pins in good contact with the connections in a socket, so make sure you insert correctly and use plain paper or something as a wedge to hold it in place. (if i remember correctly the two outer most pins are +5v and ground and the drive wont work at all if these dont have good contact)
Recover you data and bin the faulty stick.
