How much gearbox oil for Mercedes C220D manual 1996?

Hi, i've drained the gearbox of oil and put a litre into it. How do I know when it is filled to the right level? Currently on a front wheel ramp so it is on an angle. Only about a cupful came out, like tea water. Arrgh!

Capacity is 1.5 litres.
Careful ! What sort of oil did you put in it? Although it's a manual gearbox it uses Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). Don't use the wrong stuff !
